What the symbol © stands for?
The symbol © stands for "Copyright".

It may be used in connection with a creation falling under the copyright legislation, but there is no obligation to indicate that a creation is protected by a copyright. The copyright exists if the legal conditions are fullfiled. According to the Swiss Copyright Act, the creation must be intellectual and have an individual character.

In Switzerland and other countries there are no registers for recording copyrights.

In the USA a registration is possible.
