Chinese Delegation from Tianjin Headed by Division Chief Xie of the Tianjin Intellectual Property Office discusses Co-operation with BOVARD

A delegation from Tianjin, China, China's fourth largest city with the highest per-capita GDP in China (2011 statistics), and one of the fastest growing areas in the world, paid BOVARD a visit on 28 October 2013. The delegation headed by Ms. Xie jinyi, Division Chief of the Tianjin Intellectual Property Office, met with BOVARD CEO Mr. Tarik Kapić, and discussed mutual collaboration in Tianjin and elsewhere. The Tianjin Intellectual Property Office is one of a number of regional IP authorities in various cities in China, where patent office authority is more decentralized than in Switzerland.

BOVARD's CEO introduced the delegation to the Swiss and European IP protection landscape with its coexistence of national and supranational procedures for patents, trademarks and designs. Also touched upon in the discussion were business prospects and opportunities for both Swiss and Chinese firms resulting from the free trade agreement between China and Switzerland.

Mr. Kapić, who has been invited to visit Tianjin and meet with representatives of the companies from this region, expressed his pleasure that the delegation had chosen BOVARD from among all the other IP firms in Switzerland. He stressed BOVARD's readiness to assist firms from China in IP matters.

The delegation comprising members from the academic and industrial sector of Tianjin also paid visits to the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property in Berne and the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.
