Experience

Patrick graduated as a Physicist from the Ghent University (Belgium), specializing in solid-state physics and optics, with a thesis on the use of power lasers, SIMS and X-ray spectrometers for crystallography.

Between 1982 and 1994 he was an assistant at the Institut de Microtechnique de Neuchâtel (fiber optic sensors) before joining ARL SA (Thermo Fisher Scientific) to develop industrial optical and X-ray spectrometers. From 1988 to 1999, he developed MEMS microsystems and light guide sensors at CSEM SA.

From 2000 to 2012, Patrick was a member of management, VP Product Development and IP Manager at Colibrys SA (Spinoff of CSEM), specializing in MEMS, accelerometers and diffractive optics. Since 2013 he has turned his focus solely on intellectual property, with a particular interest in patents in the fields of micro- and nano-technologies, micro-optics, optical (micro-) systems, industrial systems and processes.

With over 30 years of experience in innovation processes, the execution of more than 80 development projects, European projects, international publications and patents in these fields, Patrick's passion has always been optics.

At Bovard, Patrick enjoys the excellent team spirit, an environment of many nationalities and exciting interactions with our high-tech industrial clients, start-ups, universities and technical schools.
